DJ Rachel’s Favorite Local Videos of 2011

Not only is the NW brimming with great new music, there’s a ton of talented artists and directors putting together interesting and memorable music videos for us to enjoy on the internet while we should be working. Here’s some of my favorite videos released by local artists in 2011.

Fleet Foxes – The Shrine / Argument
Stacey Rozich’s animations beautifully compliment this epic song (directed and animated by Fleet Fox frontman Roben Pecknold’s brother, Sean Pecknold). That Deer-Moose-Ram beast has it rough.

Consignment – Always Tired
Local bummer pop Consignment are always tired, just like you:

Pony Time – Per Se
That horse knows when it’s party time.

Grave Babies – Death Face
That bummer looks good on you:

Lindseys – Lyfemare
Local recording studio BLDG’s completed an amazing project earlier this year, the 12bandPROJECT, where they recorded audio and video of 12 bands in 12 hours. Here’s the video from young scrappers, Lindseys:

SPURM – Motivation
Local 6-piece SPURM is about to release their final 7”. I don’t think there’s been this much maritime machismo since the days of the Vikings:

King Dude – Big Blue Eyes
Watch out for the vaaaaampires! (Props for Terry Gillian inspired animation!)

Don’t Talk to the Cops – Cold Nuts
Don’t Talk to the Cops! Especially in regards to Cold Nuts.

Witch Gardens – Rain Delay
This is what I want to have happen every time it’s really cold out and I want to stay indoors.

Shannon and the Clams – Toxic Revenge
No town is safe from the toxic trashmonster. (Ok, they’re from Oakland, but there’s a buncha Seattlelites in the video):

DJ Rachel is a fill-in DJ at KEXP.
